Custom Insoles in London

Do your feet hurt? Are they causing aches and pains in your legs and back? Do your knees ache with every step you take? If this sounds familiar, we’ve got something that can benefit you: Custom insoles for your shoes designed to help your feet function exactly as they were designed to, helping you improve mobility and shock absorption, reduce stressors on the rest of the body, improve mobility, reduce pain, even improve performance and prevent further damage to the knees, hips and back.

What’s Causing Your Foot Pain?

Research has shown that 60-70% of people have abnormally functioning feet. If you have any discomfort in your body, you may be surprised to learn that the root of the problem may lie in your feet. Just like the walls of your house may crack with bad foundation, problems within your feet can lead to issues from the ground up.

This can lead to structural problems in your feet that can alter your walking pattern and cause pain throughout your body.

How We Can Help

We’ll begin with an evaluation which includes a thorough history and physical examination, so we can get to know what your complaints are. Then, we’ll use our advanced Gait Scan technology to assess your feet and the way they are working while you walk, then we explain exactly how prescription insoles (also called orthotics) work to restore proper foot function and relieve discomfort.

Our Gait Scan is simple and easy to complete. Here’s exactly what will happen:

  • SCANS FOOT: As you walk across the plate, thousands of tiny sensors capture the distribution of pressure throughout the sole of your foot over time.
  • MAPS FOOT PRESSURE: From your step, the computer then displays on its screen 2D and 3D visual representations of the pressures under your feet.
  • PRINTS REPORT: This information is also summarised in an analysis report that can be printed for you to see. The report findings will help your practitioner evaluate your foot function and determine if the symptoms you are experiencing are related to faulty foot mechanics.
  • DETERMINES NEED FOR ORTHOTIC THERAPY: This information will assist your health care practitioner to determine your need for orthotic therapy, and will aid the lab in manufacturing prescription orthotics to support your feet.

What Are Orthotics?

Prescription orthotics are custom-made devices worn in your shoes that provide correction and assistance to your feet, helping them function in a more efficient manner. They’re commonly called insoles.

Poor foot function and alignment may be the cause of pain you are experiencing in your feet, knees, hip or back. When you wear orthotics, your body can get the support it needs and you may find your pain greatly relieved.

Where Does It Hurt?

Often, patients come to us with a variety of complaints that they don’t realise may begin with their feet.

In fact, if you’re experiencing any problems or pain in the following areas, it’s a good idea to visit us for a gait scan and have your feet checked:

  • Feet
  • Ankles
  • Legs
  • Knees
  • Hips
  • Low back
  • Mid back

At Body 4 Life Healthcare, we’ll take a full-body approach to solving your problems, recommending chiropractic care, Shockwave therapy, or even rehabilitation in addition to custom insoles if we think it will bring you the absolute best results.

Chiropractor London, Roger ReidRoger Reid is a keen athlete as well as a Doctor of Chiropractic with a tremendous amount of experience both in treating and correcting foot biomechanical issues. He understands the implications and interactions and influences on the rest of the body and is also fascinated by the mechanics, not only for treating injuries but also for preventing them and for improving performance.

Roger spends many weekends racing and has dabbled in triathlons and road racing. He has participated in everything from one-mile competitions and marathons to a double ultra-marathon (once!), adventure racing, obstacle course racing, cross country running and everything in between.

He likes to build fitness from a strong core and sees his primary objective is to stay injury-free and inspire his patients and his children to be active, fit and healthy. Over the years, he has excelled at many of these, winning several races between 2014 and 2019.

Roger likes to think he does well at these different pursuits due to a combination of core strength, fitness, endurance, strength, agility, flexibility, being well prepared, well-conditioned and well-adjusted (Chiropractic-ally). He sees these qualities as the keys to prevent injuries and ensure optimal spine, joint and muscle function.

It’s perhaps also a little due to a competitive spirit, a sheer love of sport and racing, a commitment to training and a dogged determination. These attributes have all helped him better understand the stresses and strains on the human body, its function it’s limits and its bio-mechanics, how to optimize training and improve performance and, more importantly, how to avoid injury.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I can benefit from having orthotics?

The only way to know for certain if orthotics are right for you is to have an assessment with us. From this comprehensive examination, we can determine if you can benefit from having orthotics. You can book in for your consultation by phone or email.

Are your orthotics the same type I can buy in a shop?

Simply put, no. When an orthotic is custom-designed like ours are, it corrects your specific foot imbalances. Your orthotic will realign your foot by redirecting proper motion and reducing improper motion. Our orthotics are also flexible, as Chiropractors we know that there are 26 bones in each foot and they are all designed to do a different job, keeping the orthotic flexible allows dynamic movement of the feet and doesn’t lock it in a neutral position. Plus, they’re made to fit your shoe perfectly.

I have shoes that orthotics don’t normally fit into. Do you have ones that are right for me?

Yes. We work with The Orthotic Group, which makes a variety of orthotics. Their products can fit into all different types of shoes, including dress shoes, sport shoes and casual shoes. We want to make sure your orthotics are a perfect fit and comfortable.

How much do orthotics cost?
